Major League Soccer Starts 2008 Season

The 2008 season of Major League Soccer is set to begin this Saturday, March 29. Bay Area soccer fans will once again have a reason to watch MLS this season; the San Jose Earthquakes are back! Ignore the terrible open tryouts from last year.

What? You didn't know the MLS was starting the new season? Yeah, marketing and advertising for MLS is on the low end. It lacks media coverage from the major networks. You probably have to start watching ESPN Deportes to get MLS updates.

The San Jose Quakes play their first game Thursday, April 3rd, visiting the LA Galaxy. Since it is the home opener for the Galaxy, this game will be telecast on ESPN2. Even though it is the home opener for the Galaxy, it would be their second game of the season, as they also play on MLS opening night, visiting the Colorado Rapids.

Most of the Quakes' games will not be available on standard cable TV or network broadcasts. There should be audio telecast of the game on the MLSLIVE.tv website. But listening to audio of a soccer game? That's stupid.
