The cast for the next installment of Dancing with the Stars has been revealed, and once again it includes a multitude of members of the sporting world. Highlighting the list of sports celebrities is none other than NFL player Jason Taylor of the Miami Dolphins. Taylor will follow in the dance steps of other NFL legends Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith, with one notable exception. Jerry and Emmitt were retired when they danced; Jason Taylor is still an active football player.
The complete list of celebrity dancers on the show will include Adam Corolla, Cristian De La Fuente, Shannon Elizabeth, Steve Guttenberg, Mario, Marlee Matlin, Penn Jillette, Priscilla Presley, Monica Seles, Jason Taylor, Marissa Jaret Winokur, and Kristi Yamaguchi.
While Jason Taylor is sure to grab most of the headlines, he doesn't stand a chance at winning. He might last longer than Mark Cuban, but Taylor won't make it to the second half of the season. The only way Taylor can make it is if all the NFL fans around the country vote for him each and every week. And if Taylor doesn't have two left feet.
My pick to win the competition is Kristi Yamaguchi. Former Olympic gold medalist, Yamaguchi has the graceful motions to cross over to ballroom dancing. Kristi has been paired with Mark Ballas as her professional dance partner.
Former tennis star Monica Seles will also be competing, but I don't see her having much success. Shannon Elizabeth, from American Pie, will be fun to watch, but I don't give her much chance either. Priscilla Presley, daughter of Elvis Presley, is a sleeper pick to win. If Priscilla Presley starts channeling Elvis Presley's dance moves, she will get a lot of Elvis fan votes. The Elvis fan votes will easily outnumber the NFL fan voting.
Adam Corolla is a dumbass, but it had been revealed his dance partner will be Julianne Hough. Julianne has won Dancing with the Stars the past two seasons, with Olympic skater Apolo Anton Ohno and Indy car driver Helio Castroneves. This alone should make Adam an early contender.
The screwball in the competition is Penn Jillette, also known as the talking half of the magician group Penn and Teller. I simply cannot see Penn lasting past the first couple of weeks. I'm hoping he doesn't try to throw in a magic trick into the dance routine. Knowing ABC, they will try to interview the non-speaking half of the group, Teller.
