yiBoo's NBA All-Star Team for 2008

We're getting close to NBA's All-Star weekend at New Orleans. All-Star balloting has always been a fan popularity contest. That doesn't always work out well when the popular players are having an off year. It also screws over good players on losing teams in smaller markets.

Shaq is 2nd in voting for Eastern centers at 700,000 votes, right behind Dwight Howard's 1.4 million votes. Shaq sucks this year. He doesn't deserve to be an All-Star. Ilgauskas and Bogut are playing much better, but they are both hovering the 150,000 vote mark.

Chris Kaman is having a fantastic All-Star year with 17.6 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game, yet Erick Dampier has twice the All-Star votes than Kaman. Dampier's stat line? 5.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. Yeah, that's what we call bullshit.

Here are my NBA All-Stars for 2007/2008.

Chris Paul
Chris Paul
Averaging 21.4 points a game, 10.4 assists, and 2.8 steals, CP3 is exactly what you want from a point guard.
Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant
Kobe's the leading scorer in the Western conference. Kobe does it all: 27.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 2.1 steals.
Carlos Boozer
Carlos Boozer
Boozer is averaging a double double, at 22.9 points and 10.8 rebounds. He's one of the two forwards in the West averaging 20-10 this year.
Al Jefferson
Al Jefferson
Jefferson is the other forward averaging a 20-10, at 20.2 points and 11.8 rebounds to be exact.
Yao Ming
Yao Ming
Its basically a toss-up between Yao and Amare Stoudemire. I give the slight edge to Yao for a higher assist average, at 2.4 per game compared to Amare's 1.2 assists.

Jason Kidd
Jason Kidd
Jason Kidd, the triple-double machine. He has got to be an All-Star starter.
Dwyane Wade
Dwyane Wade
Wade has come back from his injury with force, averaging 24.2 points, 6.8 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.0 steals.
LeBron James
LeBron James
LeBron leads the NBA in scoring, at 29.7 points a game. LeBron also gets 7.5 assists and 7.8 rebounds. He's the best player in the NBA this year.
Kevin Garnett
Kevin Garnett
KG anchors the Boston Celtics and single handedly turned the laughing stock of the league to the odds on favorite? Yeah, he's that good.
Dwight Howard
Dwight Howard
This is an easy pick. Its Dwight Howard, or Dwight Howard. The East has crap for centers. Dwight is miles above any other center in the East.

Some final thoughts:

  • How the hell does Shane Battier have have 340,000 votes...
  • Luis Scola has more votes than Al Jefferson, Pau Gasol, and David West...
  • Gilbert Arenas has 500,000 votes...must be getting votes from Agent Zero's blog

RE: yiBoo's NBA All-Star Team for 2008

This is one year where the East team looks better than the West.
