Warriors tell Milwaukee The Buck Stops Here

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 120 - 90 on Wednesday night. The Warriors ran up and down the court, and the Bucks simply could not keep up. With the exception of a Matt Barnes overly aggressive pick, the Warriors did not commit too many stupid fouls. Troy Hudson even got some minutes in the first quarter.

The Warriors shot well in this game, ending up with 52.3% FGs and 68.2% on 3s. Although the Warriors did not shoot their first 3 pointer until half way through the first quarter, the long bomb was sinking for them. Whenever the Warriors launched from behind the line, you just knew it was going in the basket. So much so that I was yelling for Biedrins to chuck up a three. Another surprising stat for the game is the Warriors free throw percentage. Golden State made 93.8% on free throws. The Warriors made 15 free throws, out of 16 attempts.

Defensively, the Warriors played the paint well, forcing the Bucks to take outside jumpers. Michael Redd still got his 24 points. The Warriors crowded the passing lanes and forcing turnovers on the Bucks front line. Biedrins was in foul trouble most of the game, but Mbenga came off the bench and gave productive minutes. Unfortunately, Mbenga is the only Warrior to have not scored in the game.

Nellie did not hesitate to clear the bench in this game. Hudson, Croshere, Barnes, and Mbenga all received double minute playing time. Even Brandan Wright and Patrick O'Bryant got in the game during the 4th quarter. T-Hud had a great lob pass to B. Wright for an alley-oop dunk. That just popped the crowd at the Oracle.

I got to Oracle early, way early. This gave me a chance to sit court-side during the pre-game shoot around. I got a chance to see Yi Jian Lian take some jumpers. From what I saw during the shoot around, I was expecting a big game from Yi. Throughout the night, Yi showed he belong in the NBA, but he is far from being a star yet.

Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson, Monta Ellis, and Austin Croshere spent a fair amount of time during their shoot around. Conspicuously absent from the Warriors shoot around were the bench warmers, Patrick O'Bryant and Brandan Wright.

The game was a blast. The Oracle crowd was loud, and was not shy about boo'ing the Bucks free throws, or Warriors fans during halftime and time-out arena activities. Food and drink prices are high, but thats to be expected. Five bucks for a bottle of soda you can get everywhere else for a buck fifty really hurts. But it was worth it for a Warriors win. Miami Heat might as well stay in their hotel, because the Warriors will steamroll them!
