ESPN is all over the proposed Kevin Garnett trade. The deal would send Kevin Garnett to Boston Celtics for Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, Ryan Gomes, and two future draft picks. ESPN is reporting that it's a done deal, and will be announced soon.
Knowing ESPN, they wouldn't blast this all over their website and SportsCenter unless it had some reassurance that it is real. And the deal sounds plausible. After the trade, the Boston Celtics would end up with about 9 active players on the roster. The Minnesota Timberwolves would end up with 17 active players on the roster.
This means the Golden State Warriors are out of the KG race, and will have to settle for Drew Gooden. Gooden will not be an offensive option in Don Nelson's game plan, but Gooden can bring defensive strength to the team. Keep in mind that Drew Gooden is a local guy, having attended El Cerrito High School in California.

RE: KG Trade Rumor Update 2
Boston is bumping up right against the salary cap with those nine players. They will need to use their MLE on someone and sign D-league players to make up the difference.
Maybe the Warriors can trade them some S&T people for Leon Powe. S&T Pietrus for Powe? Did Boston sign Big Baby yet?
RE: RE: KG Trade Rumor Update 2
Boston can sign as many players as they want to a minimum salary contract. That is allowed in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. So they can have a mix of crappy D-Leaguers, or maybe even veteran names who are willing to take the minimum. Minimum salary for a 8 year veteran is over $1 million. Guys like Latrell Sprewell, Kevin Willis, Scottie Pippen... they could all become Celtics.
RE: RE: KG Trade Rumor Update 2
Celtics need players, eh? I'll play for the league minimum! I'll be the 12th man, haha.
