Roger Clemens appeared before the Congressional Committee this morning to determine his involvement outlined in the Mitchell Report. In the report, Clemens' trainer Brian McNamee told investigators he had injected Clemens with HGH a number of times in the past while in Toronto and immediately thereafter.
After the release of the report, Clemens heatedly denied any use of steroids or HGH.
In a shocking revelation, Andy Pettite, a close friend of Clemens and fellow training partner, told the Congressional committee that in a conversation, Clemens had told him he took HGH. The committee asked Petitte a number of times to determine the truthfulness of his statement and Petitte confirmed his clear recollection.
Before the committe, Clemens stated that Pettite must have misheard him, even though Pettite has no reason to lie. Clemens mentioned the talk was about the HGH shot that his wife received, but the shot his wife had was given in 2003. The conversation he had with Pettite was in 1999.
This was all taken from this morning radio show. Obviously, this case has gone down to a he said/she said deal. There are no witnesses to their conversation so any one of them can be lying. If there is some hard evidence leading to Clemens use of steroids, I don't see how relevant this hearing can be.
