With the Golden State Warriors season coming to an unfortunate end, we turn our focus onto a new sport, namely baseball and specifically the San Francisco Giants.
Experts all around the country gave the Giants very little chance of reaching the playoffs. Some even speculated a 100+ loss season is forthcoming. Based on the past four games, the experts are dead on in their analysis.
The Giants have no offense. None. Zip. Nada. Zero.
The team needed two games and a rain delay to get an extra-base hit. Total runs scored in the first four games is four so far. Each game has the potential to be a shutout for the opposing team's pitcher. So, those of you who are into fantasy baseball, pick up those NL West pitchers in the back of the rotation when they play the Giants.
The only bright spots for the team is Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum. Cain is still stuck on the unlucky streak of pitching with the worst run-support on the team. Unfortunately for him, there is no end in sight for the streak.
Lincecum overcame Bochy's botched attempt at cleverness and pitched four innings sandwiched around a 90 minute rain delay to pick up a win in the last game of the Dodgers' series. The winning run was also scored by Lincecum, so you can see how poor the Giants' offense is right now.
Of the position players, no one really stands out. Eugenio Velez looks like a speedster on the basepaths. Brian Bocock looks like a patient hitter. He has already drawn the most walks on the team while hitting in the 8th spot. When Vizquel comes back, Bocock will most likely head back to the minors because this team is a team of GAMERS!
